Goa: ಗೋವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಡ ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಹಲವು ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಬಂದ್ ಆಗಿದೆ, ಇನ್ನೂ ಹಲವು ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಈಗಲೋ ಆಗಲೋ ಮುಚ್ಚುವ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಗೋವಾ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ 3 ಲಕ್ಷಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿದ್ದರೂ ಕೂಡ ಈ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಏಕೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಕೊರತೆಯುಂಟಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ…? ಗೋವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಕೇವಲ ಕೂಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕರ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸೀಮಿತವಾದಂತಿದೆ. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿಯೇ ಇಂದು ಗೋವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಮುಚ್ಚುವ ಹಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ತಲುಪಿದೆ.
ಗೋವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಸದ್ಯ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ, ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರೌಢ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಸೇರಿ ಒಟ್ಟೂ 21 ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಈ ಪೈಕಿ ಒಂದರಿಂದ ನಾಲ್ಕನೇಯ ತರಗತಿಯ ವರೆಗೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ನೀಡುವ 13 ಶಾಲೆಗಳಿವೆ, 5,6,7 ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ನೀಡುವ 6 ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಿಕ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಿವೆ. 7,8,9,10 ರವರೆಗೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ನೀಡುವ 2 ಶಾಲೆಗಳಿವೆ. ಗೋವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಸದ್ಯ ಸುಮಾರು 21 ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಈ ಪೈಕಿ ಹಲವು ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಸೌಕರ್ಯದ ಕೊರತೆಯಿದೆ. ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಸೌಕರ್ಯದ ಕೊರತೆಯೂ ಕೂಡ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಕೊರತೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕಾರಣ ಎಂದೇ ಹೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ಕಳೆದ ಸುಮಾರು 10 ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋವಾದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ 10 ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಬಂದ್ ಆಗಿರುವುದು ಬೇಸರದ ಸಂಗತಿಯೇ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಗೋವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಷ್ಟೊಂದು ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿದ್ದರೂ ಕೂಡ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಾಲೆಗೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಕೊರತೆಗೆ ಕಾರಣವೇನು..? ಎಂಬುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದಿರುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.
ಗೋವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಾಲೆಗೆ ಬಡ ಕೂಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕರ ಮಕ್ಕು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಆಗಮಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಕೊಂಚ ಸ್ಥಿತಿವಂತರ ಮಕ್ಕಳೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀ ಅಥವಾ ಮರಾಠಿ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಕೊರತೆಯುಂಟಾಗಲು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ಹಲವು ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ರಜಾ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮನೆ ಮನೆಗೆ ತೆರಳಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಾಲೆಗೇ ತಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸುವಂತೆ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಮನವೊಲಿಸಲು ಎಷ್ಟೇ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿದರೂ ಕೂಡ ಅದು ಕೂಡ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಅಭಿಯಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳು ಕೂಡ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಕರೆತರಲು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ನಡೆಸಿವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಕೊರತೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಕೆಲ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಈಗಲೋ ಆಗಲೋ ಮುಚ್ಚುವ ಹಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ತಲುಪಿದೆ. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ಗೋವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಾಲೆಗಳ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಲೇ ಸಾಗಿದೆ.
ಗೋವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 25 ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕನ್ನಡಪರ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳಿವೆ. ಇಷ್ಟೊಂದು ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳಿದ್ದರೂ ಕೂಡ, 3 ಲಕ್ಷಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ಇದ್ದರೂ ಕೂಡ ಗೋವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಾಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವೇ…? ಎಂಬುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದಿರುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಅದೇನೇ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಕೂಡ ಗೋವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಬರುವ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಉಳಿಯಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಈಗಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಾಲೆಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ತರಲು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ನಡೆಸಬೇಕಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಬರುವ ಕೆಲವೇ ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ನೀಡುವ ಎಲ್ಲ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಬಂದ್ ಆಗುವ ಭೀತಿಯಿದೆ.
ಹೊರ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಉಳಿಸಿ ಬೆಳೆಸಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಿಂದ ಗೋವಾಕ್ಕೆ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಶದರೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಉಳಿಯುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರ್ಕಾರವು ವಿವಿಧ ಇಲಾಖೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಯಾವುದ್ಯಾವುದೋ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೋಟ್ಯಾಂತರ ರೂ ಖರ್ಚು ಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ಹೊರ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಗೋವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಉಳಿಯಲು ಅಗತ್ಯ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮತ್ತು ಸಹಾಯ ಸಹಕಾರ ನೀಡಲೇಬೇಕಿದೆ. ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದಾದರೂ ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇವಲ ತೋರಿಕೆಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆಯೇ ಕನ್ನಡ ಉಳಿಸಿ ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋರಾಟ ನಡೆಯಲಿ.

Goa : Many Kannada medium schools in Goa which were educating poor Kannada students have already closed down, many more Kannada schools are on the verge of closing now and then. Even though there are more than 3 lakh Kannadigas in the state of Goa, why is there a shortage of students in these Kannada schools…? Kannada medium schools in Goa seem to be limited only to the children of labourers. Due to this, Kannada schools in Goa have reached the point of closure today.
A total of 21 Kannada medium schools including primary, secondary and high schools are functioning in Goa. Among these there are 13 schools imparting education from class one to fourth, 6 secondary schools imparting education 5,6,7. There are 2 schools providing education upto 7,8,9,10. About 21 Kannada medium schools are functioning in Goa at present. Many of these schools lack basic facilities. Lack of infrastructure is also said to be the main reason for the lack of students. It is sad that more than 10 Kannada medium schools in Goa have been closed in the last 10 years. Even though there are so many Kannadigas in Goa, what is the reason for the lack of students in Kannada schools..? That is the question before us.
Kannada schools in Goa are frequented by children of poor laborers. But the fact that the children of the less privileged are all going to English or Marathi medium schools is the main reason for the shortage of students in Kannada medium schools. No matter how hard many schools try to convince Kannadigas to enroll their children in Kannada schools by going door to door during the holidays, it is not possible. In this campaign, some Kannada organizations have also joined hands to bring children to Kannada schools. But due to lack of children, some Kannada medium schools have come to the point of closing now and then. Due to this, the number of Kannada schools in Goa is decreasing year by year.
There are more than 25 pro-Kannada organizations in Goa. Even though there are so many Kannada organizations, even though there are more than 3 lakh Kannadigas, is it not possible to maintain Kannada schools in Goa…? That is the question before us. Nevertheless, if Kannada medium schools are to survive in Goa in the coming days, everyone should make a concerted effort to bring children to Kannada schools immediately. Otherwise, there is a fear that all the schools imparting Kannada education will be closed in the next few years.
If Kannada is to be preserved and cultivated in foreign states and the children of Kannadigas who have come to work from Karnataka to Goa should be educated in Kannada medium, the existing Kannada schools need to remain. Government of Karnataka has to spend crores of rupees on projects through various departments for the survival of Kannada medium schools outside the state of Goa. Henceforth, in this regard, let’s fight not only for show, but also to save and develop Kannada.
